What is time? (समय अर्थात घटना)

हम विश्व के यथार्थ को क्यों नहीं समझ पाते ? महाअणुविज्ञानी आइन्स्टीन अपने सापेक्षवाद सिद्धांत के द्वारा उत्तर देते हैं – ‘हमारे साधारण विचार, समय और पदार्थमय हो गये हैं, हम इनसे मुक्त नहीं हो पा रहे हैं, किन्तु हमारा समय और स्थान या पदार्थ से बँध जाना समस्त प्रकृति या विराट् जगत का दर्शन कराने में असमर्थ है । हम प्रकृति की वास्तविकता को तभी पहचान सकते हैं जब समय और स्थान से हम ऊपर उठ जायें।”

समय और स्थान क्या हैं ? यह वास्तव में कुछ भी नहीं है, हमारे मस्तिष्क की कल्पना या रचना मात्र है । लोग कहा करते हैं कि मेरी सगाई २ जुलाई को सांय सात बजे हुई, किशोर ने मई सन १९५५ में हाईस्कूल में परीक्षा दी आदि-आदि । इन वाक्यों को ध्यान से कई बार पढ़े तो हमे मालूम होगा कि प्रत्येक समय किसी-न-किसी घटना से जुड़ा हुआ है । समय दरअसल कोई वस्तु नहीं हैं । यदि कोई घटना या क्रिया न हुई होती तो हमारे लिए समय का कोई अस्तित्व ही नहीं होता।…..

Why can’t we understand the realities of the Universe? The Great atomic scientist, Albert Einstein tries to explain it through his theory of relativity. He says, “Our perception is bound to time and space from which we are unable to disentangle ourselves. We are so much conditioned to that erroneous perception that it prevents us from visualizing the big picture of the Universe. We need to disentangle ourselves from time and space to be able to know the truth behind the Creation.”

What are time and space? They are in reality nothing but a brainchild of our imagination. You may have heard people talking about events, for instance, I got engaged on 2nd July, at 7p.m.; Kishore appeared in his high school examination in May 1955; and so on. If we closely analyze these statements, we would realize that the reference of time is connected to one or other occurrence. Time in fact has no independent existence. In other words, there will be no time if there was no occurrence!
